Catholic Vitamin Q: Queenship

The solidly theological reasons for her title of Queen are expressed splendidly by Pius XII, in his Radiomessage to Fatima, Bendito seja (AAS 38. 266): “He, the Son of God, reflects on His heavenly Mother the glory, the majesty and the dominion of His kingship, for, having been associated to the King of Martyrs in the unspeakable work of human Redemption as Mother and cooperator, she remains forever associated to Him, with a practically unlimited power, in the distribution of the graces which flow from the Redemption. Jesus is King throughout all eternity by nature and by right of conquest: through Him, with Him, and subordinate to Him, Mary is Queen by grace, by divine relationship, by right of conquest, and by singular choice [of the Father]. And her kingdom is as vast as that of her Son and God, since nothing is excluded from her dominion.”

Our guest on this podcast is a wonderful new ‘faith-find’ in my life, and in yours I hope. She is IRENE STUDNICKA — a revert to the Catholic faith, and a woman healed of 4th stage, widely metastasized, very aggressive breast cancer. She developed symptoms while breast feeding a child – a breast that the child didn’t want to feed from. A breast that was tender and finally so sore that Irene had to seek advanced medical care. It was then that they discovered the cancer, which by that time had spread to several areas of her body.

We hope you’ll listen to this episode and hear her journey, which includes consecration to Jesus through the (Queenship of) Blessed Virgin Mary. Praise to her Son. Praise to Mary, our Mother.

During the show, Irene shared a prayer that she and her family do each day together:

My Queen and my Mother

I give myself entirely to thee

and to show my devotion to thee

I consecrate to thee this day

my eyes, my ears, my mouth, my heart,

my whole being

wherefore dear Mother keep us and guard us

as thy property and thy possession. Amen.

God’s peace and joy to you!

We hope you enjoy the lovely pictures of Irene and her journey. These range from those dark days of receiving chemo (but look at the beautiful and trusting face of Irene even then), to her fairytale wedding which happened after her first husband left her while she was struggling with cancer. Irene’s first marriage was annulled and while searching for someone to cut her grass, Irene hired the handyman who later turned out to be her Prince Charming. And – what a lovely family they have in their new life together.

Oh my gosh, do we ever light up (and do we ever get comments) when we have a chance to feature Catholic songwriter and singer Danielle Rose. She gave Marianna Bartholomew permission to use  songs for this special episode dedicated to Blessed Mother Mary and her QUEENSHIP.

Danielle Rose is known as a MUSIC MISSIONARY and you can find her music and lots of news about her on her website:

  1. As Irene’s Studnicka’s mother I thank you for helping her come through an additional healing phase. This has been and remains a difficult journey (as a mother)watching her child so gravely ill.

As a daily communicant I prayed to the Blessed Mother for her intercession in sparing my daughter’s life. Not asking to take the cancer away as we would offer the suffering up to the Holy Souls in pergatory or for anyone that needed pray–just in sparing Irene’s life. Can you imagine I had the audacity to ask for a sign so I would know my prayers were answered. As you now know I received the sign and Irene is still with us. Thank you Deacon for all the good that you do, I will add you to my daily prayer list. Yours, in Christ, Barbara

Dear Barbara — what a joy to ‘share’ your daughter and to honor the holy witness she brought to our Catholic Vitamins program and to our listeners. May God bless us all until we merrily meet in heaven. Blessings. deacon tom

As someone who knows and works with Irene I want anyone who enjoys this site to know how truly blessed those around her are. I’ve known “of” Irene from the days of cancer to “really” knowing her, and can’t relate accurately enough in words how much of an inspiration she is. She has carried the heaviest crosses and bore them without complaint. Through all of her ups and downs it was truly amazing how unshakable her faith was. She is an amazing witness to how much God loves us by having given us His Son and our Blessed Mother, eliminating her cancer AND seeing her be so happy in her new life. God IS good!

    • Deacon Tom says:

Thank you Diane. Your testimony about Irene speaks volumes. I’ve listened again to our interview, and I just kept getting tender in the heart. If I ever really need strong, strong prayer – I hope I remember to contact Irene (and her friends 🙂 Blessings. Deacon Tom
