Catholic Vitamin J Journey

CV J Journey Podcast Show & Blog Notes

What a gift to meet and have Pat Gohn in our lives. I hope you will listen to this interview on Catholic Vitamin J for Journey… and then that you will reach out on the web and find places where Pat does her work.

In the interview, we talked about the Among Women Podcast which has grown by leaps and bounds. (And a little secret: It’s anything but JUST for women!) It’s a great boost — well it’s like a Catholic Vitamin you can add to your faith walk.

Pat is mother of three. A native New Yorker now living in New England, she has been active in Catholic ministries since her youth. Pat holds an MA in Theology and Christian Ministry from Franciscan University of Steubenville, plus certificates in theology of the body and youth ministry. No stranger to writing or public speaking, Pat has a BS in Communications from St. John’s University in New York.

Pat’s favorite subject matter to teach and write about is the Catholic faith and applying it to daily life. Over the years, Pat has held church staff positions in ministry with adults and youth. Her founding and nurturing leadership of prayer groups and fellowships for mothers-at-home, married couples, and cancer survivors, has spanned twenty years.

Having enjoyed an on-air career in radio prior to many years as a stay-at-home-Mom, today you’ll find Pat in Catholic media with articles in print and on the internet.

Pat’s latest media project is podcasting. “Among Women” is a program on women’s spirituality. Download it from iTunes, or you may listen to it at AmongWomenPodcast.com.

Pat’s media company, Behold Communications, showcases Pat’s writing, voice-over, and audio production talents for commercial and non-profit organizations.

Pat, and her husband, Bob, have enjoyed over 28 years of marriage.  Together they have traveled throughout the USA and Europe with their three children.  In their local church, they are guitarists playing in a music ministry, and hosts to small group studies. They are regular adorers of the Blessed Sacrament.

In the more commercial arena, Pat has an established business called Behold Communications.  A list of the services of Behold Communications include:

OTHER WORDS — MUSIC WORDS

When we are so connected to the internet these days — much comes upon us. Much gets past us, but this didn’t. A young wife, mom and singer named Becky Kelley has developed a wonderful Youtube video which shows Becky singing the song WHERE’S THE LINE TO SEE JESUS. If you find the version on the internet, the piano music is played by her father. I contacted dad and asked for permission to play this lovely “message” song on our podcast. And so we did — a guitar-backed version of Where’s the Line to See Jesus.

Here’s the story behind the song as pulled from their website:

While at the mall a couple of years ago, my then four year old nephew, Spencer, saw kids lined up to see Santa Claus. Having been taught as a toddler that Christmas is the holiday that Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus, he asked his mom, “where’s the line to see Jesus”? My sister mentioned this to my dad, who immediately became inspired and jotted words down to a song in just a few minutes.

After putting music to the words, and doing a quick recording at home, he received a great response from friends. He sent the song off to Nashville without much response, except for a Christian song writer who suggested adding a bridge at the end of the first chorus. My dad then asked if I wanted to record the song to see what we could do with it. I listened to the song, made a few changes to the words to make it flow better, and we headed to Shock City Studios. It was at the studio where Chris, owner and producer, rewrote the 2nd verse and part of the chorus… with goosebumps and emotions high, we were all hopeful and felt like we had something special.

The demo was recorded in just under 2 hours and sent off again to Nashville … still no response. Then 2 weeks before Christmas last year, my cousins Greg and Robbie decided to do a video to see what we could accomplish on YouTube. The first day we had 3000 hits and it soared from there. We received e-mails, phone calls, Facebook messages from people all over asking for the music, CD’s, iTunes, anything… we had nothing.

After a couple of meetings with Chris following the amazing response, we got serious. We headed back into the studio this past spring… this time with guitars, drums, bass, pianos, choirs… the real deal…. and here we are today. Getting iTunes set up, a website put together, and loving that thousands upon thousands of Christians have come together… remembering the true meaning of Christmas. Out of the mouths of babes come profound truths that many adults can not understand. Hopefully Spencer’s observation will cause people all over to reflect on the love of Jesus, and that one day we will all stand in line to see Him. We are most thankful to our Heavenly Father to have this chance to share our music with you. Merry Christmas everyone.
