Catholic Vitamin S Sabaoth

One of the oldest prayers of the Holy Mass is the Sanctus (the Holy, Holy, Holy). It contains one of the prophetic titles of God in the Old Testament and is prayed, in part as the Lord God SABAOTH… remember saying that in times past? It refers to the Lord God of Power and Might… the Lord God of Hosts. And we honor the God who would ‘gift’ mankind with His Son. The newborn Babe of Bethlehem.

Today, our Christmas show features an interview regarding an amazing new book about the time of Jesus and the Essenes and the Dead Sea Scrolls. The title: JESUS AND THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS by featured, returning guest and author, DR. JOHN BERGSMA. This book reveals the Jewish roots of Christianity — but this is far from a dry book about the small group of Jewish separatists. It opens a window and breathes life into the very people and time of Christ… how they lived… what they believed… their ‘liturgies,’ and leads to rational speculation about the impact of faith practices on the life of John the Baptist, and likely even Jesus Himself.

Dr. Bergsma ‘gifted’ the Catholic Vitamins Podcast with a free copy of JESUS AND THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS: Revealing the Jewish Roots of Christianity. If you’d like to enter our drawing for an absolutely free copy, send your contact information to catholicvitamins@gmail.com or call our Catholic radio station KPIH 98.9 at 928-363-4144.

We featured Christmas music by Kate Daneluk and her Making Music-Praying Twice ‘store’ … and by the Glenn Mohr Chorale and by a favorite past guest Russ Rentler.

Merry Christmas to each and every one of our listeners and friends.
